About Brielyn
Brielyn Flones was born in Sedro-Woolley, Washington, on June 29, 1985. She is the oldest, and most bossy, of four kids in her family. Growing up, Brielyn liked to look for bugs, ride her bike, pick flowers in her grandma’s garden, play school, read books, and write stories. Her first story was about a family of wolves. She wrote it when she was seven, and she’s been writing ever since.
Brielyn went to Lincoln Elementary school in Wenatchee, Washington, and her favorite games to play during recess were four-square, tether-ball, and wall-ball. Her fourth grade teacher, Mrs. Wilson, inspired her to start keeping a journal so she could learn about her thoughts and feelings. She started one in a purple spiral notebook and has filled up more than 30 journals! She keeps all of them in a box on her office shelf.
When Brielyn grew up, she worked lots of different jobs—she worked at a coffee shop, a summer camp, a packing & shipping store, and a book-making company. She became a teacher, too. Brielyn is inspired by all kinds of jobs and all the people who do them. She loves to learn. And she especially loves to learn from kids.

Brielyn’s favorite color is purple. Her favorite thing to eat is a cookie, dipped in her morning coffee. She also loves pizza. She lives with her family (including Bear the dog, and Snoball the cat) in Evanston, IL.
